HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and Foundation present An Evening with Nobel Laureate Dr. Harold Varmus on Tuesday, November 19th, at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson Center. Dr. Varmus, former Director of the NIH and National Cancer Institute, will share about his Nobel prize-winning work that changed cancer research around the world.
Dr. Harold Varmus is a co-discoverer of oncogenes. His work helped transform the landscape of cancer research worldwide. Dr. Varmus will be joined in conversation by Dr. Rick Myers, HudsonAlpha Chief Scientific Officer and M. A. Loya, HudsonAlpha Chair in Genomics.

You can trade your turkey basting for some turkey racing as you join Crisis Services of North Alabama for our 31st annual Turkey Trot 5k on November 28th at 8am. We’ll start at Spragins Hall on the UAH campus and run, walk, stroll, or trot to raise money for victims at the starting line of recovery headed toward Survivor-hood.

On December 7th from 12p-2p, we want to see your pups jingle all the way to Rocket City Dog Bar for a HOWLiday PAWgeant to support Notorious DOG Rescue. Santa pics, vendors, pawgeant prizes, pup cups and more will round out the afternoon. Costumes not required but encouraged for the PAWgeant. Hosted by Notorious D.O.G. Rescue.
